Linda Ann Killingsworth

May 18, 1956 – July 5, 2017

Linda Ann Killingsworth was born into this world in Chicago, Illinois on May 18, 1956 to Cleve Lee and Lee Ethel Killingsworth. At the happy time of her birth, she was the fourth of 4 children. As a child she was cherished, as a young woman, she was beautiful, smart and quietly determined to follow her own path.

As a mother, to Brian, she was loving and protective. As a sister, she was kind, nurturing, fun and a true cheerleader for the accomplishment of our daring dreams. She was our chief familial connector linking us all through the fast pace of modern living keeping all us in close orbit and within reach. Her boundless capacity for caring created authentic friendships and enabled her to be genuinely involved with people near and far.

Linda attended Manley Elementary, Jensen Elementary and Marshall High School. She graduated with a degree in psychology from DePaul University. As a professional, she worked compassionately, helping people understand and access their health care benefits for over 25 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

She was sweet and exceedingly kind hearted. Known by her co-workers to be a caring problem solver extraordinaire she was also an outspoken advocate for process driven improvement. Her co-workers regarded her as their respected champion for better resources that would help employee achievement and morale.

Even as Linda helped others to navigate the complexities of the modern health care system, she never allowed her own health challenges to limit her natural inclination to embrace living a full life. She happily packed up for family road trips taking young hopefuls to college, sailed the oceans on Tom Joyner College Scholarship Cruises, partied on joyful island vacations and she volunteered to staff the leadership development programs of the League of Black Women.

Linda loved art fairs, museums, music, cultural events, whimsical art featuring, the moon, clever office supplies, Snoopy and silver jewelry.

Her father Cleve L. Killingsworth passed in 2000. Today, Linda leaves to celebrate her life, her loving mother, Lee E. Killingsworth, her son Brian Hines, Jr., her brother Cleve Killingsworth (Daren Chentow), her sisters, Sandra Finley (Eddie Finley) and Janice Killingsworth Walker (Tim Walker), nieces Jasmin Shomade, Erin Killingsworth Walker (Tim Walker Jr.), Lisa Killingsworth and nephews Bakari Finley, Khalid Finley (Veronda Finley), Ali Finley (Daniel Straka Finley), Evan Killingsworth and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, co-workers and extended family members.
