Mrs. Charlotte Goodwin

Born Into Time: July 31, 1944
Born Into Eternity: October 03, 2017

Charlotte Louise Goodwin was born on July 31, 1944, in Argo, Illinois, the first child born to the union of Louis (Red) and Effie Williams. In making her transition into eternity, Charlotte joins her parents and her brother, Louis Charles Williams, Jr. (Baby Brother).

Charlotte’s educational pursuits began at Ruggles Elementary School. She continued her secondary education at Hirsch High School. Following her graduation from Hirsch in 1962, she then attended Wilson Junior College for the next two years.

On October 17, 1964, Charlotte was united in holy matrimony with Turner Lee Goodwin. Two children blessed this union, Turner Louis Goodwin and Effie Estel Goodwin. Effie preceded her mother, Charlotte in death.

Charlotte confessed her love for Christ at an early age. As she continued to grow stronger in her faith, she became a confirmed Catholic in 1983. Through her membership with St. Kilian Catholic Church, she remained a devout Christian until her earthly light was extinguished.

Charlotte’s working career began with a brief period of employment with Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She later took on a career with the U. S. Postal Service where she remained a dedicated employee until she retired after thirty-two years of service.

Following her retirement, Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her beloved son, her sister, her grandsons, and her extended family and friends. No matter the occasion, you could count on Charlotte being there. A woman of great integrity (her word was her bond), strength, and dedication to her family and friends, Charlotte was lovingly referred to as the “Head Honcho”. She embraced that title and owned up to the role with her younger sister and cousins. Whether the situation at hand called for giving advice, financial assistance, or moral support, Charlotte was there to provide whatever was needed.

After several health concerns, Charlotte made her transition on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, with her devoted son, Turner and her loving sister, Charlene by her side as the angles transported her to her heavenly home.

She leaves precious memories to her son, Turner Louis (Jamita); three grandsons, Turner Alexander, Tyler Louis and Taylen Louis Goodwin; one sister, Charlene Williams; one aunt, Ruth Jones; sixteen first cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
