Roger A. Mosley was born October 29, 1936 to Willie Mae Simmons and Roger Mosley in Terrell, Arkansas. Roger has two brothers and one sister, Lloyd Turner (deceased), Charles Davis and Kathy.
Roger started working at an early age picking cotton and chopping corn in Arkansas. Later in life he moved to Columbus, Ohio then settled in Chicago, Illinois where he worked several jobs. Roger always had a strong work ethic which carried him throughout his life. That determination and dedication led him to Sunbeam, where he worked as a machinist for 15 years. Roger later worked at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (Environmental Service Dept). While working at Gottlieb, he dedicated his time giving back to the community by participating in their yearly Midwest tri-classic triathlon race. He later became a supervisor and eventually retired.
Roger developed the love of bowling and he participated in many bowling leagues. To name a few “The Cobras.” Years later he became the captain of “Mosley 6.” He met the love of his life Barbara Lindsey. They bowled together for several years in leagues and tournaments. After 7 years together, they eventually married on February 22, 1990. They spent the past 37 years together raising their family on the southside of Chicago. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed listening to music. His favorite type of music was the blues. He will be truly missed.
Roger Mosley III
I want to thank God for the life and legacy of Roger A. Mosley, Jr. I will miss him very much! I will miss the conversations we had during my drive home from work. I will miss his favorite girl, tennis star Serena Williams, whom he always talked about. My son will miss the times he talked to him on the phone. My father always encouraged me to press forward with my dreams. He was always concerned about my friends J Reed and Anthony Penn. My father touched a lot of lives and will be missed by us all. We are grateful that you got the chance to meet my friends and the conversations that we shared. Love you forever. Your son Roger Mosley III.
We all loved our Dad and his friends and family loved him as well. He was funny and loving. He will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace. Love always.
