Mrs. Emma Lee Whitmore Lindsey was born October 17, 1927 in Ozan, Arkansas to the late Andrew Whitmore, Sr., and Laura Ogburn Whitmore. Emma departed this life on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
She graduated from Clow High School in Clow, Arkansas. After graduation she moved to Malvern, Arkansas to work and live with her oldest sister, Mary. She joined the First Baptist Church and taught the young girls Sunday School class.
In August, 1957, Emma married Charles Lindsey in Malvern, Arkansas and moved to Chicago. She ran a successful Day Care for thirty years.
Emma attended First Corinthian Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
Emma leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Letoria Whitmore, of Madison, Alabama; two brothers, Charlie Whitmore, Sr. (Ethel) of Nashville, Arkansas and Ollie Whitmore, Sr. of Flint, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Darlene Miller of Arkansas, Gloria Lindsey of Chicago, Illinois and Elizabeth Montgomery; one special niece, Lynette Johnson of Chicago, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
