Gloria Jean Rozier peacefully went to be with our Lord, on April 12, 2019, at the age of 76.
A native of Chicago, IL, Gloria was born on November 1, 1942. Gloria attended elementary and high school in Chicago. While attending Hirsch High School, Gloria developed and maintained friendships that endure throughout her life. This special group of friends supported each other and were a special source of joy for Gloria. After graduating from high school, Gloria soon began working for the Standard Oil Company. Gloria dedicated 30 years of her life working for Standard Oil.
In 1964, Gloria married Tommie Rozier and together they had two children. The happiest times of Gloria’s life was spent with her husband as they raised their children.
Gloria was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip Neri. She was devoted to many of the ministries within this parish; CRHP, Liturgy Committee, and the Women’s Group. Gloria was an active participant with these ministries, some for more than 20 years. Gloria loved to walk for exercise, to travel, to talk with pride about her grandchildren, to go to the movies, to swim, to visit Theater Performances, to volunteer at the DuSable Museum, and to work diligently on her Spanish speaking skills.
For the last year and a half of Gloria’s life, she lived with her loving son, Brandon, where she was comfortable and happy.
Gloria is survived by her two children; son Brandon, and daughter Rhoda (John), her eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Tommie Rozier, and her parents Alonzo Buford and Flossie Mae Gains. She leaves behind a host of family members and friends.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Gloria Rozier to Saint Philip Neri Church, 2132 E. 72nd Street, Chicago, IL, 60649. Thank you.
