Lucy Beatrice Way was born December 25, 1934 to Jim and Lena P. Williams in Demopolis, Alabama. Lucy, gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Old Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama. She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree on May 23rd, 1960 at Tuskegee Institute where she met and later married Freddy L. Way. From that union they had one child, Frederick Way. Lucy, was employed as a Public Health Nutritionist I, with the City of Chicago and was a member of A.W.S., Dietetics Club. She received a Master of Science Degree June 8th, 1986 from Spertus College of Judaica in Chicago. As a result, Lucy was selected for the position of Public Health Nutritionist II and later retired.
Lucy Beatrice Way, found and abundance of joy, love and fellowship at Trinity United Church of Christ. She grew with the ministry from its early years and remained a faithful member. There, she served as a greeter and was a member of the Seniors Ministry.
Lucy passed away in her sleep on the morning of June 29th, 2018 after suffering many years from various illness. She has exchange her suffering for rest. She was proceeded in death by her son Frederick Way; mother Lena P. Williams; Sister Lena Pearl (Tiny) Reed; Sister Bettina W. Porter and Father Jim Williams.
She leaves in legacy two sisters, Sara Fluker Bodie (Thomas); Mildred Wolf; nieces, Lorrie Moody (Dexter); Teri Lee Standifer Patricia Morrison (Brian); Pamela Porter; Bettina H. Isaacs (William); Doris Reed; Brigette Williams; Susan Woodfin (husband)nephews, Preston Reed (wife); John J. Porter (Ronda); Sam Wolf (wife) and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members and loving friends.
