Mianna Aleta Thomas (Toots) was born on April, 14, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Ella Turner and Curtis Moffett. Later Ella married Odis Cole who adopted Toots. She has four siblings Odis Eric, who died days after birth, Odis Pierre, Yvette Dorine, and Angela Lolita. She professed Christ at an early age and was baptized a Pilgrim MB Church.
Toots graduated from Douglas elementary and Parker high school. She also attended Loop Junior College. She worked for Spiegel’s, U. S. Post Office, City of Chicago, and Chicago Police Dept. from which she retired.
In 1961 she met Nathan. He says it was Love at first site! They have been together ever since. Being married for over 49 years, from that marriage they have three children: London Bradley, Kelly Robert, and Cara Deshong. Two Granddaughters, Makia Mianna (Kelly) & Morgan Ellyse (Cara).
Toots was a “Universal Mama”, our home was an open house to all the kids in the neighborhood, she definitely fed them all, counsel and advised them, and when they needed it, she got after them.
Toots leaves to mourn, Patriarch “Uncle Teddy” (Theodore Coleman) and Matriarch “Aunt Betty” (Rev. Betty Thomas), Sister-in-Laws, Maxine Shannon, Paulette Smith (Teeny), Loretta Cole, Barbara Murry and Danella Murry-Taylor, God Daughter, Yolanda (Michael) Sartin, two Brother-in-Laws, Ronnie Murry (deceased), Wilbert Murry, and Barry Taylor and her Sister-Friends affectionately called Ya-Ya’s, as well as a host of Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, and many, many friends and Co-workers.
