Rosetta Gardner Young was born November 13, 1925 in Calhoun, Alabama to Floyd Gardner, Sr. and Luvenia Hall-Gardner who both preceded her in death.
The family moved to Pensacola, Florida where Rosetta grew up with her brother, Floyd, Jr., who also preceded her in death in 2008. After attending Washington High School, she married C.P. Lee in 1943. To this union was born a son, Clarence Kenneth Lee. They later moved to Chicago, Illinois where Rosetta gained employment at Zenith Corporation as a manager. Several years after C.P. passed in 1963, she married Homer S. Young, who also preceded her in death in 1997. Since they were both no longer married, her brother invited her to live with him. Together they enjoyed entertaining. She always prepared huge meals for family and friends on every occasion. Everyone said she was a master chef.
After retirement, Rosetta’s health began to decline slowly until she passed at home peacefully on July 6, 2018.
Rosetta leaves to celebrate her life, cherish her memories, and carry on her legacy: two grandchildren, Kenneth Lee and Danielle Lee; two great grandchildren, Savannah Lee and Adrianna Lee; nieces and nephews, Vanessa Gardner/Tyrone (deceased) Bowley, Clotilda Kyles/Mel Scott, Gail Lee/Richard Brown, Deborah Pierce-Lee; Melvin/Belinda Lee, Joyce Lee-Pye, Barabara Lee-Achebe (deceased), Linda Sue Mellon, and a host of close great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
