Evelyn “Casey” Campbell-Dimitri, one of seven siblings, was born in Chicago, Illinois to the union of John Lee Campbell and Hennie Mae Campbell on January 16, 1952.
The value of hard work and education had been instilled in her at a young age. She graduated from Hyde Park High School. She later graduated from the University of Illinois and received a graduate degree from DePaul University.
Casey, a long-time member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, used her work ethic to become a force to be reckoned with in the advertising world. She began her career at the Chicago Sun-Times where she met her mentor and future partner Dan Gustafson. She later joined her mentor at the ad agency Jordan, Tamraz and Caruso as an account executive partnering with him at Gustafson-Shields Advertising where she enjoyed decades of success. She was recognized by Citation’s Who’s Who as a rising star in American society and business in 1992. She was also featured in the 4th Edition of the American Biographical Institute’s 2000 Notable American Women. Once Gustafson-Shields closed their doors in 2010, she began working as a consultant until she retired.
She came to know love later in life and she married Daniel Dimitri on August 25, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada gaining a bonus son, Michael.
She passed from this life on September 15, 2019 at the age of 67 in Hammond, Indiana in the company of her loving husband.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Daniel Dimitri and her stepson, Michael Dimitri. She also leaves behind her siblings: Thomas Campbell, Clara Campbell, Paul Harris, Joseph Harris, Charisse Coleman and David Harris along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
