On August 28, 1953, Stephanie Lynn was born to the union of Rosewell Bibb, Jr., and Frances Parks. She often spoke of the very happy childhood and loving family life she experienced in Gary, Indiana with her parents and two siblings.
Stephanie graduated from Gary’s Westside High School in 1971. She continued her education at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While in the Boston area, Stephanie pledged the Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Stephanie pursued and earned a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Northwestern University; J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1980.
Stephanie held marketing management positions with Kroger Corporation, Baxter Travenol and Soft Sheen Corporation after graduation. Upon leaving the corporate arena, she joined Chicago State University and taught in the College of Business and Administration for over 20 years. Stephanie found her true passion as an Educator. Helping young adults in the community reach their full potential through higher education became her personal calling and mission.
Stephanie served on various faculty committees and initiatives and enriched the curriculum by developing on line courses. Stephanie was loved by her students. She followed many of their careers and developed life-long relationships.
Stephanie loved The Lord and accepted Christ at an early age and remained a committed member of Trinity United Church of Christ for many years.
She was a consciously busy person with activities centered around uplifting others. She was a devoted daughter and sister who cared for her aging parents and continually supported her siblings in various endeavors. Stephanie’s family of friends was an integral part of her life as well. She particularly enjoyed spending time with the Orphans social group. Stephanie loved travel and adventure. Over recent years, she visited Alaska, Barcelona, Greece, South Africa and hiked the Grand Canyon. She was schedule to go to the Holy Land at the end of June.
Stephanie was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter, President of her condominium association and mentored several young adults
Stephanie took particular pride and joy from the book she edited and published entitled Women’s Liberation: Jesus Style Messages of Spirituality for Today’s Woman.
Through the sovereign love of Almighty God, Stephanie was called to join her heavenly Father on June 12, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosewell, Jr., Frances and God daughter, Viola Mackie.
Stephanie leaves to mourn and cherish her memory brother, Rosewell “Rick” Bibb, III; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Harold Taylor, II; Loving Companion, Michael Wells, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She will be laid to rest at Rolling Green Memorial Park in West Chester, Pennsylvania close to her parents as requested.
